Vertical Mindset Indicator
Become more fully you—leader, partner, parent, or friend.
with Jason Bernhardt-Lanier
Whether you are in the (proverbial) bedroom or boardroom, you yourself are the single greatest leverage to feeling more alive, free, fulfilled, impactful—not others. Therefore, pause and ask yourself two questions:
- What’s my growth edge (Hint: it’s likely where you are feeling discomfort in your life)?
- As I embrace this growth edge and become more fully me, what happens to me and my relationships—as a leader, a partner, a parent, or a friend?
For many who have taken these questions seriously, becoming “more fully them” has meant tangible growth in several ways:
- Increasing their sense of resiliency
- Discovering a blind spot(s)
- Increasing their capacity to engage others who are different
- Getting clearer and taking steps to feel even more fulfilled
What might it mean for you? Trained as a professional integral coach, I can help you answer that question. As a result, you will expand and deepen your capacity to be more fully you.
A Vertical Mindset Indicator (VMI) experience will provide you a unique snapshot into you, including your growth edge(s) at this time in your life, and a 30-45 minute personalized, laser-focused debrief session with me.
The VMI-based approach provides an advanced, innovative platform that leverages artificial intelligence for linguistic analysis and interactive learning processes that is people-centric.You will respond to a few simple questions about you and the organization/team setting in which you work. As a result, you will discover significant insights, define micro-action(s), learn from what others VMI learners/leaders have shared, and receive follow-up “nudges” to apply your micro-actions for growth. Moreover, an individualized debrief with me further accelerates and strengthens your trajectory. Give yourself (and others) this gift.
What is included in the VMI approach?
In summary, you will get:
- A 3-5 page detailed report, comprised of your Mindset summary, Characteristics and Worldview, Leadership Style, Working in Teams, Strengths, Warning Signs
- 9 recommendations for improving your range and skill for your mindset stage
- 1-2 clear action steps/micro-experiments that you choose to prioritize, experience, and learn from
- Several months of access to a learning platform, called Adeption, where you can selectively receive “nudges” and learn from others who are also acting and reflecting
- A 1:1 personal debrief session with me, including additional targeted resources to accelerate and strengthen your trajectory.
What is Vertical Development?
Vertical development means developing greater capacity as human beings to be in relationship to ourselves and others around us so we can think, feel, and act in better ways that fit different and multiple contexts. Vertical development is different from its sibling, called horizontal development, which includes acquiring a competency or knowledge (e.g., a communication preference or personality type), often from an expert with “the answer.” Vertical development is working on “how we think” as opposed to only “what we think.”
Here is a helpful analogy: Vertical development is like increasing the size of your tea or coffee cup so that your cup can hold a greater volume of delicious brew. In contrast, horizontal development is filling up your existing cup in its original size. Both are valuable, and yet in a fast-paced, ever changing world full of interdependent people and things, horizontal development only is not sufficient; vertical development is also needed.
